06The Minimum Viable Loop
Build Chapels That Earn Cathedrals
Not an MVP. Not a prototype. Not a pilot. A closed loop designed to answer: do we even need a building here? And if so, what kind?
Pattern: What dynamic are we trying to change? Hypothesis: What's the smallest intervention that might shift it? Action: Build that intervention. Ship it to real users. Reflection: What did we learn that we didn't expect? Reframe: How does that learning change what we build next?
The loop closes when you have both an artifact — something working — and a decision — what to do differently.
Some chapels stay chapels. And that's perfect. Some chapels reveal they should be churches. And occasionally — very occasionally — you discover you're building a cathedral. Not because you imagined one at the start, but because the system earned its own complexity through compounding loops.

Most problems don't need cathedrals. They need chapels that compound.
